" The water polo caused a good dejol of i amusement, and was won by New '(Plymouth, who put a strong team into |fie i water. During the afternoon a team 1 from the Wanganni Club gave an interesting and creditable exhibition of lifesaving. The members, who are all medal-lion-holders, were greeted with a round of hearty applause for their particularly meritorious exhibition.
In the afternoon, in the 100 yds Open Handicap, G. H. Hawkins (New Flymouth) was second in his heat. A. V. Stohr was unsuccessful in the Corfu Dive. la the evening events E. Pfankuch (New Plymouth) was beaten by a foot after a good race in the 100 yds championship. A. R. Standish (New Plymouth) was second in his heat in the 75yds Open, and Chamberlain (New Plymouth) was third in his heat, but both i were unplaced in the final. In the div-' ing, as the winner, Bassett, had declined to take the prize, only appearing at the request of a large section of the public, Stohr was awarded the prize. Stohr also won the cigar and umbrella race. New Plymouth was represented in the Relay Race by Pfankuch, Brown, Stohr, and Hawkins, and they were returned thewinners from the Hawora and Wanganui clubs. At water polo Xew Plymouth defeated Hawera by four goals to one, and Wanganui by six goals to one. •
