BOYS FOR FARM WORK
MR. SEDGWICK'S SCHEME APPROVED. By Telejrrapb.—Prean Association. Palraerston N., Last Night. The Wellington provincial executive of the Farmers' Unidn at Palmerston to-day passed the following resolution in connection with the importation oi boys for farm work, after hearing an address by Mr. Sedgwick, founder of the scheme:— "That this executive, having seen that the Hon. J. A. Millar has stated that no further boys should be brought out by way of assisted emigrants to work in the country for twelve months, considers Mr. Millar can have no conception of the demand in the country for guch as have been lately brought out by Mr. Sedgwick, who have all been placed in satisfactory employment; further that January, which'would be the month in which they would land, is too late for the boys to be of most use, and that September is a much better month for the boys to land, as it is the spring of the year, when the work of the farm is commencing. This executive would therefore urge Mr. Millar to continue this excellent scheme, so as to enable the boys to land and settle in the Dominion in September in each year, instead of waiting for the full twelve months."
