The latest news is to the effect that the rebellion at Ponape is still m progress, though it is giving out. The rebels are using nails and glass in place of bullets, against the German punitive expedition. The Germans captured 281 prisoners, and had a naval officer, a petty officer, and five of the New Guinea police killed, and a naval officer wounded. Received 23, 9.25 p.m. Sydney, February 23. Besides taking prisoners, the German expedition shot many of the Ponape rebels.
