AUCKLAND ANGLICAN BISHOPRIC
NO FINAL DECISION. By Telegraph.—Press Association. Auckland, February 21. Tlie efforts of the Synod to appoint a successor to I)r Neligan, formerly Anglican Bishop of Auckland, having proved unsuccessful from the .fact thai the Rev. J. P. Maud, of Bristol, who was asked to fill the vacancy, was unable to accept owing to family reasons, a further sitting has been rendered necessary. This sesiioimvas opened this afternoon, Archdeacon Calder presiding. A number 'of names have been men. tioneil for the position, but after the last experience the Syno,d is preserving the greatest secrecy until the, final selection is made and the appointment is actually accepted. A private ballot was taken to-night, but no final decision was arrived at. The Synod has adjourned until to-morrow afternoon. Auckland, Last Night, The Anglican Synod met to-day, and again considered the appointment of a Bishop. No official statement has been! issued, but it is understood that ArchDeacon Crossley, of Geelong, has been selected. It is also understood that n cable has been sent to him, but no reply has been received.
