A SYDNEY AGITATION. ADULT ARMAMENT SERVICE SCHEME. By Cable—Press Association—Copyright. Received 22, 1.5 a.m. Sydney, February 21. A representative meeting, under im auspices of the British Immigration League, the Lord Mayor presiding, adopted a resolution pledging it to support any action taken by the Minister of Defence to ensure, at the earliest moment, an adequate supply of arms and ammunition to enable the whole adult population to take part in the <lefenc» of the country if necessity arise; urging the Federal Ministry to consider if the unsettled international conditions do not require an extension of defence preparations, to include youths attaining the age of eighteen in 1011 under the compulsory training system, and provision for compulsory adult training in that year; also recommending that steps be taken to ensure uniformity of gauge on the trunk railways in order to facilitate defence. AUSTRALIAN NAVAL POLICY. Received 21, 11 p.m. Sydney, Februany 21. Admiral King Hall has arrived here. He stated that he heartily approved of the Australian naval policy, and had come out intending to encourage it.
