INGLEWOOD NEWS.
(From Our Own Correspondents). The streets are standing the strain of the heat very we'll, and, considering the long spell of hot weather they have been subjected to, are in really good order. One tiling which would be greatly, appreciated in Inglewood, by shop-keepers especially, is a water-cart. With the dust carried by the south-cast wind, anyone who exhibits his warps at the doors, and inside the shop, too, is put to no small trouble and in some cases loss. The winter will soon be on us, so it is somewhat late now. but no doubt the Council will give the matter consideration next spring. The Swimming Club is holding a sports meeting on Friday evening, when it_ is to be hoped a large attendance will put in an appearance. The events are purely local, and some good races may be'confidently expected. The programme includes a 50 yards' race, egg and spoon race, cigar and umbrella raw, girls' ami boys' races, and a married men's race for Mr. Gudgeon's special trophy.
