The Hawke Cup match was played here to-day between South Taranaki and Rangitikei to decide which team is to meet Southland in the final at Christchurch. The weather was gloriously fine, and the wicket fast. Taranaki won the toss, and started well, making 142 runs for one wicket, when the remaining batsmen collapsed, and all were out for 188 (Dunlop 74, Baker 4.0, McCarthy 19, Pratt 13). Hussey took six wickets for 45 runs. Rangitikei batted well,scoring<3l4 (B. Signal 70, Hill 03, E. Broad 31, Ark.wright 24 not out). Signal and Arkwright added 91 for the last wicket. The match will be continued to-morrow. The following will play for New Plymouth juniors against In'glewood at Inglewood to-day:— Mackie, Allan, Morey, Gordon, Legg, Court, Holah, Xapier,, Bollinger and another.
