WORK AND WAGES

WAIHI MINERS AND CANCELLATION.

By Telegraph.—Press Association. Waihi, Last Night. A ballot in connection with the question of cancellation of the Waihi Miners Union registration under the Conciliation and Arbitration Act was concluded on Saturday niglit. The following is the result: In favor of cancellation, 047; against cancellation, 285; majority in favor of cancellation 302. The actual result is in doubt till the matter is decided by the registrar, a majority of the members of tile Union being required to carry the proposition. The total number of members of the Union to the 31st December, 1910, was 1350. If these figures bold good cancellation has been lost by 20 votes. It appears that members have to be twelve months in arrears before being struck off the roll. Hence it would appear that all the names on the roll must be considered as members of the Union, but if the number of financial members only; is taken as a basis of computation in the matter, then cancellation has been carried.
