IN TEMPESTUOUS WEATHER
A LINER'S EXPERIENCES. COAL SUPPLY RUNS OUT. By Telegraph.—Press Association. Auckland, Last Night. The Australian mail liner Boveric, the late arrival of which from San Franciseo caused some anxiety, arrived in port' this morning. From the time the vessel left San Francisco she was be-set by tempestuous weather, and the latter half of the journey after leaving Samoa offered an experience the memory of which will remain lifelong. Twelve days in a hurricane forced the ship's complement to broach the cargo and tear up the fittings of the vessel to supply fuel for the furnaces, the coal supply having run short. The cargo was fortunately chiefly of timber for Auckland and Australia. A large quantity of laths in the Auckland cargo was burned, and the Sydney cargo was also used, but to a much less extent. The usual five days' trip from Samoa occupied twelve days.
