The Mokoia, from Auckland, which had sheltered at Tcararoa last night, arrived in the bay at 10.15, and will be tendered this afternoon. There were five steamers sheltering at Teararoa yesterday, the Mokoia, Squall, Haupiri, Wanaka, and one of Richardson and Company's boats. This morning the steamer Countess, from Auckland, also put in there. So violent was the wind at Teararoa yesterday that a new blacksmith's shop was blown down and 30ft of verandah from the hotel torn off. The weather has cleared up at Gisborne, but there was a record rainfall for February, 8,62 in., and much silt has lodged near the wharves. RAIN AT WAIROA. Wairoa, Monday. A week of southerly weather culminated in a terrible gale, with heavy rain. On Saturday and Sunday 3.45 inches of rain fell in between 30 and 3fl hours. The river was in heavy flood yesterday, but no damn pre is reported. The growth of grass all over the (listriet in the last few days is phenomenal.
