Upper Waiteaika road.—Eight 18in pipes have been carted out to replace culvert on the above road. Ihaia road No. 3 loan; Contract No. 77. —This contract is now completed, and I have passed same. The Board decided to do about 13 chains of metalling on Lower Arawhata road at a cost of aoout £SO, as requested by Mr. Maciie.

The Board could not see its way to grant half cost in making a drain as requested by Mr. Ash by. as he wanted the drain dug inside the fence line. . 1 Mr. A. Cross wrote: —I am sorry to say that there seems to be a misapprehension as well as an error. My offer to the Board was, and is: That*l will pay down at once the whole of my share of the special works' rate if the Board will expend it on that portion of the road between the Main South road and the gateway leading to my house on the Opua road, none of the 68" yards already carted to be considered in this offer. If the Board will entertain this written proposition and will do the work, say. within a month or six weeks, I will send along a cheque for £23 7s at once if required.
