AMUSEMENTS

THE SQUATTER'S DAUGHTER. On Thursday evening next, second race night, Mr. G. 11. Saunders (by special arrangement with McMahon Bros., who. hold exclusive New Zealand rights) will present the most famous of all picture dramas, "The Squatter's Daughter." The play is of the sensational order having reference to the stirring times in Australia when the bushranger, while not supreme, did his nefarious work with comparative impunity. The opportunity, for concealment offered encouragement to those inclined to take the law into their own hands, and station owpers in remote localities were regarded as failgame by them. The pictures open with a view of a station, a mob of sheep and the shepherds at work amongst them. It. should be mentioned that the pictures were taken in appropriate environment,' the company who gave their services in order to secure the films having gone through the plav in surroundings that lend unwonted realism to the representation. The film occupies ail hour and a half, and the interest evinced by every audience evidences that they would be prepared to sit longer had the series of views been extended. It will readily be understood that in the depiction of incidents relating to the period many exciting situations are produced, and those who have a love for the sensational should make a point of being present before the 'film is withdrawn. But this attraction is by no means the' only one, as the humorous element finds a place, while there is much food for thought while the views are passin o, before the gaze, hi addition to "The Squatter's Daughter," an exquisite series of latest biogruph surprises will constitute the first part of the programme, lopular prices are is and Is, children half-price. Box plan opens at Collier's on Tuesday morning at 9.30.
