FLOATED OFF. By Telegraph.—Press Association. Westport, Friday. The scow Whangaroa, stranded at Karamca, was floated off undamaged. SEVENTH DAY ADVENTISTS. Wellington, Friday. The annual camp meeting and conference of the New Zealand Seventh Day Adventists is being held at Petone, and will last till February 10. It was stated at the conference that there had been many converts to the order during the year, and the various institutions were in a flourishing condition. The recommendations of the committee in the direction of developing the work of the denomination were adopted. ALLEGED ATTEMPTED MURDER. Auckland, Friday. At Te Awamutu, George Washington Long was charged with the attempted murder of Thos. Higginson Bond, at Wharepuhanga, on February 2. It was reported that Bond had sold his farm and had not been seen since Wednesday, and a warrant was issued for his arrest. Long was admitted to bail, self £IOO and two sureties of £SO each. It was alleged for the defence that Bond had seriously assaulted Long's wife, that the shot was fired to induce Bond to shoot Long, and that if Long had wished, he could have caused his shot to be fatal.
