A DROWNING CASE. By Telegraph.—Press Association. Master ton, February 9. At the inquest on the remains of A. J. McLean, held at noon to-day, the coroner returned a verdict that death was due to accidental drowning. PEA RIFLE ACCIDENT. , Blenheim, Yesterday. Two boys, named Walter Penny and Albert Hitching, both aged 15, were out rabbit shooting yesterday afternoon with pea rifles, when Penny fired through ft gorse bush at a raboit. The bullet struck 'Hitching in the abdomen, passing out at the side. It fortunately passed the vital organs, and the boy is likely to recover.

A STREET FATALITY.

Auckland, Yesterday

Vician liowell, aged nine, son of Sergt. Rowell, died in hospital from his injuries, after having been run over by a trap in Symonds street.

A MINER INJURED. Waihi, Yesterday. A miner named J. Hubhert was seriously injured in one of the stopes of the Grand Junction mine, as the result of a heavy iron bar falling on his back. UNIDENTIFIED CORPSE. Wellington, Yesterday. The dead body of a man about 55 or 00 years of age was found floating near the 'dock site to-day. The body was fully clothed, but an overcoat found on the bank close by is supposed to have belonged to deceased. The body, which is that of a man oft 7in high, has not yet been identified.
