LABOR CONGRESS
THE RIGHT TO WORK. By Cable —Press Association—Copyright. London, February 3. The Leicester Conference has closed. The conference instructed the executive to reintroduce immediately a Bill to reverse the Osborne judgment and called on Government to deal with unemployment on the lines of the Party's Right to Work Bill. • COMPENSATION FOR ACCIDENTS. Received 5, 5 p.m. London, February 4. The Leicester Labor Conference negatived a motion in favor of proportional representation. It resolved that the Board of Trade should allow trade councils and trade unions to hold their ordinary meetings in the Labor Exchange Buildings. The Conference also recommended that the State should pay in the case of workmen's accidents, compensation by means of charges upon the industries concerned, without the workers contributing; and demanded a minimum wage, and 48 hours weekly in Government factories and contracts. PRAISE FOR RAMSAY McDONALD. Received 5, 5 p.m. London, February 4. The Daily Express, commenting on the Conference, described Mr. Ramsay McDonald as the strong man of the Labor party, and remarks upon his contempt for the futilities of the other leaders, and his consummate skill in controlling without seeming to rule. His marked supremacy marks him for a distinguished future.
