THE WAIHI MINE

MEETING OF WELLINGTON SHAREHOLDERS. A meeting of the shareholders in the Waihi Goldmining Company was held at the Wellington Stock Exchange on Wednesday evening, when fifty-seven shareholders were present, and the following resolutions were passed unanimously:— 1. That the directors of the Waihi Goldmining Company be requested to obtain a iirst-class mining engineer nonresident in New Zealand to report upon: (a) The tonnage and value of the ore already developed in the mine. (b) To report on the methods ot mining. (c) To report on the various reduction mills and their situation, particularly with respect to the course prevailing of having three mills widely separated. (d) As to the processes followed in the extraction of the precious metals and as to its suitability and economy. (e) Upon the machinery as a whole, and as to whether the money has been well spent or otherwise. (f) To advise as to the system to be followed in developing the mine in the future.

2. That this meeting views with alarm the statement upon it by the directors on January 28, seeing it is in such confiet with statements published within the last few months by the company's director in Auckland. 3. That the management of the mine be placed under the personal supervision of a first-class mining engineer. 4. That all reports, cabled or otherwise, be published simultaneously in New Zealand and London. 5. That effective steps be taken by the directors to prevent the imparting of information (relative to the development of the mine) to tlie detriment of the great body of shareholders and to the great advantage of the person so informed. 0. That all shareholders be asked to sign' proxies in favor of some shareholder (to he named subsequently) to be used in London at the annual meeting for Lhe purpose of ensuring the foregoing resolutions being given effect to. An administrative committee of five was set up with instructions and power to act with any other committee of shareholders that may be formed in any other centre.
