At the meeting of the Labor Council strong statements were made in support of the existence of rabbit and meat rings. It was alleged that the actually operating rabbit ring was composed of only a few large exporters. As to the meat combine, it was not the Americans who were so much to be feared as the large local produce firms, who had the distribution in their hands. Many master butchers were only dummies. The Council empowered the executive to take the necessary steps to check the alleged evils.
