At the wool sales there was good competition by Continental and Yorkshire buyers. AMERICAN WHEAT. London, February 1. The American visible wheat supply is 73,892,000 bushels. L. A. NOLAN AND CO.'S REPORT. We have to report sales for the past week as under:— Poultry.—We have to report a large entry, all pens being filled. There was a good demand for table birds. We quote: Hens, Is 2d to Is lOd; pullets, to Is lid; cockerels, to Is 10d; roosters, Is Id to 2s Id; ducks, Is 7d to Is 10d; ducklings, Is 2d to 2s. In the mart the usual catalogue of furniture was disposed of. Fruit.—Large consignments have come to hand. The market is glutted with plums. The market is good for other fruits. We quote: Peaches, 4s Cd t« (is 3d; apricots, 5s 3d to 0s (id; nectarines, as 3d to 5s 9d; tomatoes, 3s Gd to 4s (id; pears, 3s to ss; cucumbers, Is to Is 9d; plums, English, 3s to 3s Od; Japs, Is to Is 9d; grapes, Is per lb; apples, cookers, 4s.

WEBSTER BROS.' REPORT. Our report for the past week is as follows: Poultry.—On Saturday last we had a large, entry of poultry, the majority ot the birds being really first-class. Goori pullets are in demand, as is shown by our getting 3s 4d each for a nice line of well-grown Black Orpingtons. We quote: Cockerels, Is 5d to Is t)d; small, lid to Is 2d; chicks, 4 "Ad to 8d; pullets, black Orpingtons, 3s 4d; others, small, Is 5d to 2s (id; roosters, old, Is Id to Is 8d; ducks, good, Is lid to 2s 2d; old. Is Ga to Is ;M; ducklings, dressed, 2s to 2s 3d; hen*. good, Is 9d to 2s 2d; poor, Is 3d to Is 7d. Sundries at usual rates.

Fruit.—Large supplies of all fruits are still coming forward in very good order. Raspberries arrived by rail from Nelson via Wellington in very bad order, and were sold at Is to Is 3d per bucket. A very nice line of Auckland Royal George B. peaches came forward on Wednesday, and realised 4s. The glut of plums is now over, and supplies of this fruit are now coming in more moderately. We expect a large quantity of tomatoes from Nelson this week. Prices during the week were as follows: Tomatoes, Nelson, 3s fid to ss; Burbanks, Is to 2s Oil, according to quality; pouches, choice, up to 7s; good, ,5s (id to Os Gd; thjrds, 4s to 4s Gd; Blue Diamond plums, 3s Gd to 4s; Victoria plums, 3s: cucumbers, small boxes, 2s Gd to 3s Gd; apricots, choice, 7s Od to 8s Gd; good, 7s to 7s Gd; seconds, Gs 3d; cucumbers, large boxes. Gs (id to 8s 3d; nectarines, Nelson (boxes), 4s Gd to 7s Gd; Auckland, 3s Gd to 4s; Nelson grapes, wet, s'/ 3 d to 1H1; Auckland, good, lid to Is; greengages, 4s Gd to ss; Ogon plums, Gd to Is Gd; cooking apples, 3s 3d; yellow gages, Is Od; oranges, original, 10s to 12s Gd; repacked, 15s Gd to 17s; French beans, Is; Satsuma plums, 2s Gd to .'is; bananas, green, 10s Gd; pears, 2s Gd to 3s; Auckland tomatoes, 2s to 2s Gd; Cape gooseberries, 4d per lb. Furniture. —On Wednesday we held a clearing sale on account of Mrs. H. 11. Davy, when satisfactory prices were obtained for all the furniture, including the piano.

DALGETY AND CO.'S REPORT. Messrs Dalgety and Co.. Ltd.. have received the following cable advice from their ljondon office, dated 26th ult., as follows: Beef—Demand for New Zealand fair and market firm. Quotations: Prime ox fores 3d, hinds 3%<1 per lb. Lamb—Demand limited and prices weaker. Quotations: Prime Canterbury light 5%d. North Island light "I'/jd. Now Zealand lamb may decline considerably when supplies become heavier, owing to low prices (if Australian. Demand for Australian is fair—heavv 4%d, light 4'/ 2 d.

Mutton—Demand for New Zealand limited. Quotations: Prime Canterbury heavy 4 1 /„d, North Island heavy 4d. Canterbury light 4'/£<!, North Island 4'/ s d.
