PEA-RIFLE FATALITY. By Telegraph.—Press Association. Wanganui, Thursday. The lad Marshall, who was shot with a pea-rille yesterday, succumbed in the hospital this morning after an operation had been performed. Deceased was the only son of the Crown Solicitor. At the inquest on Francis Gifford Marshall, who died as the result of a pearille bullet in the head, a verdict 01 accidental death was returned. A SHOCKING FATALITY. Greymouth, Last Night. A shocking accident occurred this evening, resulting in the death of Bert Sherman, well know in timber circles 011 the West Coast, and about 35 years of age. Sherman, who was employed at Porter's sawmill, at Dotison, left Greymouth by the 7.30 p.m. train for Heelton. This particular train does not stop at Dobson, a Hag-station, the first stop being at Wallsend, over a mile further on. Just before the train reached Dobson ~»e deceased went on to the carriage platform and attempted to alight from the moving train. Missing his footing, he was drawn in under the train, the wheels practically cutting the body in two, besides inflicting terrible injuries, making the body unrecognisable. Death was instantaneous.. The remains were brought to Greymouth by the Otira express. Deceased leaves a widow and four young children.
