PISTOL SHOTS EXCHANGED. By Cable—Press Association—Copyright. Received 27, 12.30 a.m. New York, January 26. Masked robbers boarded an electric car in the outskirts of Santamonica, fired bullets through the roof, and ordered the motor-man to secure the jewels and money of twenty-two passengers. One passenger, fired, wounding a robber. The latter replied, but the bullet pierced the passenger's coat and dropped harmlessly into his pocket. The desperadoes fled, but a sheriff's posse later captured the wounded robber, the bullet having perforated both his cheeks. A second passenger was shot in the chest during the robbers' first fusillade.
