THE CONGO ATROCITIES
AN ASTONISHING REVELATION. By Cable—tPress Association—Copyrishi, London, January 24. The Pall Mall Gazette publishes a statement that the late King Leopold of Belgium was so exasperated and alarmed at the humanitarian agitation concerning the Congo that he appealed to Germany for protection, and agreed to the invasion of France through Belgium. This plan, after the death of King Leopold, fell into the hands of those who communicated it to France. The correspondent declares that experienced chiefs of the diplomatic services of the Continent believe the rumor to be true.
