THE TERRITORIALS

BATTALTON ORDERS. Lieut-Colonel Malone, officer commanding the Fourth Battalion Wellington Infantry Territorials, has issued a general order as follows in connection with the unveiling by His Excellency the Governor of the memorial to the soldiers of the New Zealand contingents who fell in the South African war. The order directs that a guard of honor to attend His Excellency at the ceremony shall be furnished by the Taranaki Rifles and Taranaki Guards. It will be in command of Captain W. 11. Fletcher, and will consist of two subalterns and 100 rank and tile, with the regimental colors and the band. The guard shau parade at 11.30 a.m. The remainder of the Taranaki Rides and the Taranaki Guards, under the command of the senior subaltern not appointed to the guard of honor, shall parade at the same time as the guard of honor, and shall assist the police in keeping order at the cere mony. The following note is appended to the order: "If r>6 men each of the Taranaki Hides and the Taranaki Guards respectively have full dress uniforms, then each company will furnish that quota to the guard of honor. If not, then the officers commanding the companies will arrange mutually to furnish the guard, the one company making up any deficiency in the other."
