CHINESE RIOTS AT HANKOW
BRITISH AND GERMAN BLUEJACKETS LANDED. By Cable—Press Association—Copyright. Received 23, 10.40 p.m. Pekin, January 23. Chinese riots occurred at Hankow, owing to the belief that British police had killed a coolie. The British gunboat Thistle and the German gunboat Jaguar landed bluejackets, and the volunteers also were called out. The mob stoned the attacking force. The Viceroy sent along some native troops. Eight Chinese were killed.
