The quarterly meeting of the above Association was held in the Inglewood School on Tuesday evening last. The following delegates were present:— . Messrs liood (Inglewood), Stevens (Norfolk), llodges and (.'odd (Dudley), U. Capper (Kaimata), 0. Boldt and Wilson Lincoln), Henwood and Clougli (Waiongona), I'. llodgis and Simpson (Durham). Mr. R. Stevens was appointed chairman in the absence of tin: president (Mr. F. Thomson). In connection with the notice of motion tabled by .Mr. Simpson (Durham), re medical inspection of schools, the .secretary read correspondence from the Dunedin and North Canterbury School Committee Associations anent the matter, after which, a very interesting discussion took place, the upshot of which was that a resolution was passed to be forwarded to the Education Board. The members of the Association were unanimously of the opinion that a move should be made towards the inauguration of some >ystem of inspection and tile dissemination of printed matter amongst schools. A suggestion was also made that, the medical utlicers should be a-ked to give lectures on the subject it possible. A motion was passed thanking the southern associations lor correspondence sent. Mr. Capper (Kaimata) complained that the Technical School was not available at present for the scholars of the outlying schools who had contributed towards the cost of the, building, and asked the reason of. the delay, slating that it was manifestly unlViir (o those school-, that so long a time should have elapsed before receiving benefit'. Ml'. Capper's re-1 marks were heartily endorsed by those present, and after Mr. Hood, the secretary (Inglewood) had explained the posion, a resolution was carried asking the Education Board for an explanation and to get information as lo when the school would be formally opened. The secretary was instructed to write to Mr. Whitehead (late president), who had left the district, expressing the Association's regret at his departure ami r their appreciation of Ins ellorts in connection with educational matters. Mr. Jlodu'ts (Durham) brought up the question of an amalgamated school excursion in-tead of the present system of a couple of schools taking advantage of ' the railway concession. Ile thought it would be much better for all concerned if such were given ell'ect to, and admitted that while it was too late this year to alter arrangements already made it perhaps could lie managed next season. The feeling of .the committe' s interested in the Association will lie taken as to the proposal in the meantime. The date of the next inciting was lixed for Tuesday, April 11, anil the Association adjourned, with the usual thanks lo the chair. ===== I
