UNIVERSITY SENATE
A COOK MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP. By Telegraph.—Pres3 Association. Christehurch, Last Night. It was reported at a meeting l of the University Senate to-day that a sum of £IOO or more had been collected by the graduates of Canterbury College for the purpose of founding a prize in memory of the late Professor Cook. The University was asked to accept the money, and to provide an annual prize in mathematics, the prize to be awarded for exceptional merit at the honors examination. The Senate decided to thank the graduates, and to inform them that the Senate would be pleased to provide an annual prize in the direction they desired. The matter of drawing up regulations was referred to the Science Committee.
On Tuesday the question of appointment of registrar will be taken. To-day a motion for the appointment of New Zealand University examiners was rejected by ten votes to eleven.
