THE PAHIATUA MEETING. By Telegraph.—Press Association. Wellington, Last Night. In the published list of weights for the Pahiatua races the following were omitted:—
Hurdles.—Canadian 9.13, Whitestone 0.10, Seaworthy 9.0.
Hack Flving.—Tuatahi 0.13, Harrington 0.10.
TURF TOPICS. (By "Moturoa.") The Wellington and Foxton meetings open on Saturday. Contralto has been paid up for in the Ruapehu Handicap at Trentham. Miss Mischief rales first favorite for the Wellington Cup at a very short price. At Awapuni, Polymorphous is galloping splendidly, and on track form should run well at Trentham.
Waioru was badly staked the other morning, and in consequence Mr. Messena will ,be without the Conqueror gelding's services at the Foxton meeting. 'Loading jockeys for the season: W. Young, 30wins (18 on the flat and 18 over the sticks); Gray, 33; W. Price, 24. Before leaving Riecarton, Los Angelos was clocked to run a mile and a quarter in 2.111! 1 /,. The chestnut is in good form to tackle the Wellington Cup on Saturday. Owners and trainers are reminded that nominations for the Taranuki Jockey Club's autumn meeting close on Monday, 2Jrd inst.
Carbine's progeny (eight winners) gathered in nine races, aggregating £2240, in England last season. The successful Westralian horseowner, Mr. P. A. Connolly, won his sixth Perth Cup recently with Jolly Beggar.
Zealand-bred horses engaged at the Australian J.C. autumn meeting are as follows:—Doncaster Handicap, one mile: Provocation, Sonite, Crown Derby, Snowfoot, Don Hannibal, Artillerie, Coid Tnread, 'Crucinella, Broadsword, Full Sail and Motoa. Sydney Cup, two miles: Crown Derby, Lady Lucy, Artillerie, Golden Cairn and Bridge. ' Magneto, starting at a good price, just got home in the Mcntone Handicap on the 7th inst., and Mr. M. Melrose is credited with having a good win.
The Victorian R.C. Autumn meeting, Willi eh opens on March 4, will see a number of Maoriland horses sporting silk. Entries for the Newmarket Handicap, six furlongs, include Chauvelin, Broadsword, Tniganini, Full Sail, Crucinella, Motoa, Snowfoot, .Mumlic and Brave Heart. For the Australian Cup, two miles, Chauvelin, Lady Lucy, Masterpiece, Crucinella and Golden Cairn have been nominated.
Crucinella figures amongst the entries for the Ilobart and Launceston Cups, to be run in Tasmania next month. '
