MILFORD TO WAKATIPU. By Telegraph.—Press Association. Gore, Wednesday. Messrs. Grave, of Oamaru, Talbot, of Greymouth, and Lyttle, of Gore, returned from an exploration of Fiordland extending over three weeks. They succeeded in linding a practicable route from Milford to Wakatipu. The route was really discovered last year, but on this occasion a new track was found over the Grave Pass, cutting 1200 feet off the ascent and removing other difficulties. The passes rise to a height of 5000 feet. By the new route the tourist will journey from Te Anau to Milford, thence by the Grave's route to Lake Howden, and joining the Greenstone route to Wakatipu fiords. There are magnificent views over mountain scenery, notably of Mount Tukoko, rising to a height of !)042 feet, practically from sea level. On Saturday the partv ascended to the summit of Mount Balloon, 0000 feet. They were the first who have done so. The mountain was attacked by the northern ridge, and proved a somewhat hazardous undertaking, the surface being composed to a great extent of loose rock. The ascent and descent were made in one day.

ROSS GOLDFIELD. Wellington, Wednesday. 11. D. Yiekevy, liquidator of Ross Goldflelds, Ltd.. reports that in response to his circular embodying the reconstruction proposal nearly (10,000 £1 shares in Ro-s Goldfiolds Reconstruction, Ltd., have been applied for np to the present. It is proposed to register the' new company immediately and resume operations. Shares unapplied for will first bo offered to existing shareholders. PREFERENCE TO UNIONISTS. Napier. Wednesday.
