TIIE OPUNAKE MEETING. The Opunake Racing Club's meeting will take place at Pihania racecourse on St. Patrick's Day, Friday, March 17. The programme consists of one hurdle race, live Hat races, and two trotting events. The club had decided to erect eight loose boxes for the use of owners, but it was considered advisable to defet this until it is ascertained if recent legislation will affect the club in any way (says the Hawera Shir). The stakes have Been" raised from £350 to £370. Necessary repairs to the grandstand are to be carried out, and the stand is to be painted. Parts of the course have 'ocen'top-dressed, and the course will be in good order for racing at the time of the meeting. Last year's meeting was a good one in every way, and the club is in a very flourishing condition. The secretary (Mr. G. W. Rogers) is making the preliminary preparations for the coming meeting, and the programme will be advertised very soon.
