FLOODS AND WASH-OUTS. By Cable —Press Association—Copyright. Sydney, January 10. Shipping arriving reports mountainous seas. In several instances slight damage was done. Heavy rains and floods arc reported in many districts, but are now subsiding. On the south coast several wasliaways' occurred on the railway. Melbourne, January l(i. The storms are' abating, but as the result of the rain exceptionally heavy floods are expected. A fall of nine inches has been recorded since the rain started. DAMAGING FLOODS. Received 17, 12.50 a.m. Sydney, January 10. The floods in the Hawkesbury district were the heaviest on record. Many thousands of pounds' worth of damage was caused to crops, fences and buildings.
