AN OLD MAN KILLED. By Telegraph.—Press Association. Marton, Saturday. An elderly man, believed to be A. Kennedy, from Dannevirke, was run over by a shunting engine at Marton Junction to-day. He was istantaneously killed. His body was cut in half, one leg was severed, and one arm was terribly crushed, and stones penetrated his head in a dozen places. DEATH FROM HEART FAILURE. Christchurch, Last Night. Henry Teape, aged 78 years, died suddenly yesterday afternoon. He had jus* dined and gone to his front gate when he was seen to fall. Assistance was given, but he expired on the lawn. 'A verdict of death from heart disease was returned at the inquest AN INFANT'S DEATH. Christchurch, Last Night. Frederick Ernest Barkle, three months' old, was found dead by his mother this morning in a perambulator, in which lie had been sleeping. The evidence of the mother of the child was to the effect that the child had been weak from birth, and had been fed on the breast, but not having 'sufficient, she had given it oatina. The medical evidence was that the child was badly nourished, and was suffering from pneumonia. Death was due to heart failure, accelerated by pneumonia, and the pressure of a distended stomach. The Coroner, in recording a verdict accordingly, commented strongly on the manner in which the child had been fed, and said it did not have a chance.
