RUSSO-GERMAN AGREEMENT

Tile press is publishing acrimonious criticisms of Germany's action, which, it is declared, is tantamount to the abandonment of Northern Persia to Russian designs. The papers declare that Germany and Russia have been reconciled at the expense of Persia and Turkey. ANOTHER VIEW. Received 15, 5.5 p.m. Berlin, January 14. The Vossische Zeitung approves of M. Piehon's utterances, and adds that the chief result of the Potsdam interview put an end to intrigues, whereof the object was to encircle Germany and exclude her from commercial competition. The Potsdam pourparler had not modified the Alliance's ententes. ENGLAND AND TRANCE IGNORED. Received 15, 5.5 p.m. Paris, January 14. M. Jaures, Socialist leader, in criticising M. Pichon, said that English papers revealed that Great Britain was not consulted in regard to the Ru?so-German agrefment, and it was equally clear that France was not warned. •
