Timaru, Last Night. At the Pleasant Point races to-day, a small meeting, with gates of only £2O, seventeen bookmakers were licensed at £3 3s each. Great disorder reigned ovei one race. The official starter could not get the horses off through the interference of the crowd, and he left. An outsider sent them away, and the stewards ordered the race to be re-run, one of them starting it again. There was a great disturbance by a section of the crowd, and the start was delayed for half an hour. Finally the anger exploded in laughter, and the race was got off.
