The disorganisation of the Western State railway, owing to the suspension of navigation of the Seine, has proved a serious detriment to trade. The Government is doubling large sections of the line, electrifying local circuits, and enlarging stations and sidings. The work will occupy five years, and will cost twenty millions sterling.
