THE VANCOUVER SERVICE

MR. FISHER'S CABLE TO CANADA. By Gable —Press Association—Copy rigli t. Received I*2, 12.45 a.m. London, January 11. Mr. Fisher's cable to Sir Wilfrid Laurier asked whether, assuming that Canada had closed with the Union Steam Ship Company for the Vancouver service to New Zealand, lie will consent to inviting tenders for an Australian service. Mr. Fisher is determined that the call at Brisbane must be continued, and as this appears, apart from other considerations, to conflict with the call at Auckland, there is a likelihood, if Canada should agree to the proposal, of fresh tenders being called.
