WAITARA NEWS
(From Our Own Correspondent.) At a meeting of electors on Monday evening the necessary approval of the action of the Borough Council in closing a portion of Stafford street was approved.
The business people and council met in an informal way on Monday evening to discuss the half-holiday question. The meeting was unanimously of the opinion that a Saturday half-holiday was preferable to any other day, and if Taranaki towns are unanimous Waitara will observe that day. The Rev. Irving expects to leave Waitara about the end of this month. He is now considering an offer to accept the charge of Awhitu, some 20 miles from Onehunga. To-morrow the Fire Brigade will hold their floral fete, and judging by the interest displayed by those responsible for the affair, it should be a decided success. The ladies' committee report that the pnblic have been very generous in assistance, and that all arrangements were well in hand, and that all that was now required appeared to be a fine day. Ciiven this, there should be a big attendance of the public. The business people have been asked to close at 12 o'clock.
The usual fortnightly meeting of the S.M. Court takes place "to-day. The North Taranaki Dairy Company's milk supply keeps up well. During November 1,655,1921bs of milk were received, from which over 22 tons of butter was manufactured. The average test was 3.0. Suppliers receive £I7BB 12s, which is an increase of £586 IBs 2d on the corresponding month of last year.
