ANTARCTIC EXPLORATION
SOME MISUNDERSTANDING. By Cable—Press Assoeiatioß—Copyright. Adelaide, December 23. Mr. Douglas Mawson, member of the last Antarctic expedition, thinks that there is some mistake over the statement as to Sir Ernest Shackleton's movements regarding an Antarctic expedition. Only last week he received a cable from Sir Ernest Shackleton definitely stating that he would not accompany an expedition, and would iheartily support an Australian expedition under any command. This was the agreement he made with Sir Ernest Shackleton when in London. Sir Ernest Shackleton was keeping the expedition before the scientific world in his (Mawson's) interests, thus securing the ground against foreign competition. All preliminary arrangements were being made for an expedition to leave Australia about the end of next year.
