The chairman of the County Council is to wait on the Government and ask financial assistance towards repairing the damage done by the recent storm in the Puniwhakau district. At the meeting of the Stratford County Council an application from the caretaker of the Stratford Mountain House that the upper end of Pembroke road be put in order was refused, an amendment by the chairman that £lO be voted not finding a seconder. The applicant mentioned that if the road was repaired he would keep it in order, and, as an argument of the necessity for the work, stated that only recently his trap had been capsized.
