PUSHING BILLS THROUGH. By Telegraph.— Press Association. " Sydney, December zl. The Assembly had another all-night sitting, and Bills dealing with a number of public works were pushed through. Consideration of the Estimates is proceeding. NEW LEGISLATION. Melbourne, December 22. The Northern Territory Surrender Act operates from January 1 next, and compulsory military training from the same date. A PROROGATION. Adelaide, December 22. Parliament has been prorogued till March 2. LOAN ESTIMATES PASSED. A DETERMINED MINISTER. Received 22, 9.30 p.m. Sydney, December 22. In the New South Wales Assembly, the Speaker left the chair from 3.40 a.m. till l'L o'clock, when the loan estimates, providing for an expenditure of £4,933,000, were proceeded with. The item, £53,000 for brickworks, was ruled out of order, as the law states that work costing more than £20,000 must not be proceeded with without certain procedure. The Minister of Works stated that the sum was for more than one work, and the chairman's ruling was dissented from. The matter was reported to the. Speaker, who upheld the ruling, and the item was struck out. Mr. Griffiths, Minister of Works, declared he would start brickworks just the same. The Estimates, with this elimination, were carried.
