WHERE TO SPEND YOUR HOLIDAYS There only remains one further detail to be arranged to ensure complete and unprecedented success for the New Zealand Axemen's Association Carnival at Eltham on Monday and Tuesday next. That detail—the conciliating of the weather gods—is a most important one nevertheless, but at present it can only be hoped that the fine record oil holiday sunshine enjoyed from the inception of the Association is not to be broken. Year after year has witnessed remarkable improvements on the management of this great gathering, and the experience gained by the officials has resulted in evolving one. of the most admirably conducted sports meetings, cfc a large scale, in the Dominion. Further improvements have this year been made to the ay 11 a, while spectators will find that from any point of vantage in the large park they will have an uninterrup- , ted view of the exciting contests. All doubt as to" the largeness of the fields and the quality of the contestants has been removed by the arrival of all the prominent men in Eltham already, wheie nearly all the nominators from abrofltf are now in active training. All tKe visiting cyclists, and their number constitutes a record, have also arrived, and the scene on the racing track (which is in better condition than ever before) every afternoon and .evening promises some battles royal between the backmarkers, who will, however, have their work cut out to cut down the handicaps of the limit men. Altogether, holiday seekers may with confidence decide I to spend their outing at these contests, I feeling assufed that they will be given far more than their money's worth of the healthiest and straightest-going athletic contests to be seen in the Dominion.
