FARMERS AND FREE TRADE
THE CANADIAN DEPUTATION.
By Cable—Press Association —Copyright,
Received 18, 5.5 p.m. Ottawa, December 17,
Sir Wilfrid Laurier, replying to the deputation of Western Canada farmers declared that he was prepared for the domination of the more radical and progressive West. He was hopeful that reciprocity would be established with the United States, but did not think the revision of the Canadian tariffs could be hurried. British preference was an integral part of the Government's policy. The construction of the Hudson Bay railway would be hastened, probably under Government ownership.
