A legal battle has begun for "Lucky 1 ' Baldwin's estates, valued at £2,000,000, which were accumulated on the turf and by mining. Beatrice Turnbull, seventeen years of age, demands a share on the ground
that Baldwin was her father. A marriage by contract is the point involved. Beatrice's mother declared that she married Baldwin at Winchester, Massachusetts, in ISDI.
The defence, involving other relations, advances 1 itlic plea that it was no marriage, 'Mrs. Turnbull having brought a seduction .suit during Baldwin s lifetime, and following the suit Tuinbull s sister attempted to murder Baldwin.
