PARIHAKA ROAD BOARD

The monthly meeting of the Parihaka Road Board was held on Wednesday. There were present: Messrs. Deegaii, Ducker, Harvey, and Willcox. In the absence of Mr. Young, Mr. Deegan was voted to the chair.

Foreman's Report.—The foreman reported re-opening up Gregory road so as to give access to the Church of England. It was resolved to spend £lO. Xgariki Road. —The foreman's action in letting 150 yds. of boulder stone to D. Rothery at 2s 9d per yard, was accepted. Ihaia Road.—lt was resolved to clear and drain 17 chains near the Wiremu road, also to-underscrub 82 chains.

Some drainage is to be done on tue Upper Kaliui road, and 70y.ds. of boulder stone is to be carted out oil the Lower Kahui road.

Repairs and water-tabling have been attended to on Pungarehu, Kina and Cape roads. 'i Holidays. —Arrangements were made for Christmas holidays. Work will be stopped for a week, and the men paid for Boxing Day and New Year's Day. Piuiiho Road. —Mr. Magor is to be authorised: to proceed with this contract. ; It was- to give the necessary information to Carrington road settlers, who are raising a loan for metalling from Puniho to Xewall road. ' In reply to a letter from Mr. S. R. Feaver, re state of-Opua road, it was resolved to spend a year's special rates on it at once. It was resolved that the Board dele'gate its powers of health, inspection, etc., to tlie Hospital an'd Charitable Aid Board. chairman, Mr. Willcox ancl the clerk were appointed to sign the declaration: The foreman gave a report on his visit to tlie different factories for the purpose of enquiring into the heavy milk traffic over the road. He stated that a numbero of farmers were breaking the bylaws. It was resolved to warn these that action would be taken if they were again caught. Messrs. Willcox and Ducker were appointed to inspect the Puniho road, and report at next meeting.
