' THE STEAD GOLD MEDAL. By v Telegraph.--Press Association. Auckland, Last Night. The presentation of the Stead Gold Medal and certificate of the Royal Humane Society was made to Mr. McPherson, of Auckland, to-night by the Mayor. The Stead Medal was founded by the late Mr. G. G. Stead ten years ago, and has on this occasion been awarded for the „ second time. On the occasion of the Strand Arcade fire in Queen street in August, 1909, Mr. McPherson, at the imminent risk of his life, rescued one of the tenants of the building (Mr. Crouch) from a (position of great peril. Mr. McPherson was previously awarded a, medal for distinguished): bravery in saving life.
