At the meeting of the P. and 0. Company, Sir Tfaos. Sutherland, chairman, said that the company was becoming more independent of the mail services subsid] 7 , which represented about one-twelfth of the gross revenue. If >th® mail services ceased they would be able to find other means of developing tlie business, more independent and not less profitable.
