AN ELECTION AFTERMATH. By Cable—Press Association—Copyright. London, December 13. P. C. Simmons, candidate for St. George (Tower Hamlets) against Mr. Benn, in January, has been awarded £SOOO damages from - the Daily Chronicle for libel.
The libel was published in support of Mr. W. AY. Benn's candidature at'the January elections. It alleged that Mr. H. C. Simmons, Unionist candidate, helped to throw 3000 persons out of work, and t»hat he had three times voted against the feeding, of poor children.
A LADY LIBELLED. London, December 13. Lord Knollys' daughter was awarded £SOO damages against "John Bull" for alleging that she had eloped to the Continent.
