The bright sun partly dried the' wicket, and at five o'clock Sehwarz and Faulkner resumed to the bowling of Cotter and Whitty. At the second ball Schwarz gave a difficult chance to Trumper in the slips off Cotter, but it " was dropped. Almost immediately after starting the light failed, owing to a thunderstorm brewing. Both batsmen '■■ were mostly content with playing the bowling back. Schwarz hit two 2's and two singles. Faulkner not scoring. After five overs the light was so bad that it was decided to abandon for the day. In. a few minutes the thunderstorm broke, and there was a heavy downpour. The scores stand at seven wickets, for 146, Schwarz (58) and Faulkner (48) being the not out men. BETTER PROSPECTS. Received 14, 12.5 a.m. Sydney, December 13..
