AN AGRICULTURAL SHOW
HOW TO MAKE IT "GO." By Telegraph.—Press Association. Invercargill, Lasi Night. The weather, which had threatened to do several nasty things, cleared up 1 beautifully for the opening of the summer show, which is a record one in entries and in every other way. Usually the first day is not attractive to,the public, and the attendance is sparse, but this year there are new departures, which were designed to increase the first day attendance of. the public, and have had the desired effect. The crowd this afternoon" must have numbered three thousand or more. The principal feature of the attractions was a series of buckjumping competitions, a large collection of "outlaws" having been gathered, from different parts of the Dominion. This provided a great deal of sport and excitement. One horse broke its neck, ant! one man received a nasty cut on the head, but otherwise nothing untoward happened. The entries .'!n the various departments of the show totalled 1005, as against 901 last year, and this embraced increases in every individual section. The display of sheep has been described as magnificent, and northern visitors are frankly surprised.
