THE OLYMPIC WRECK
PASSENGERS SAFELY LANDED. By Cable—Press Association—Copyright. Received 14, 12.5 a.m. Ottawa, December 13. The Alaskan liner Olympia departed from Cordova on Saturday, with the after-hold empty and the stern high. The propeller consequently was almost useless. A storm sprang up, and the vessel was driven, on to a reef, a great hole being torn amidships. The 126 passengers were saved, but it is expected that the vessel will become a total loss. The Olympia resembles an iceberg, huge masses of ice sheathing the hull. The chief poffioif of the cargo hits been salvaged. The same company's steamer, the North-Western, grounded in Puget JSound recently, and a woman aboard the Olympia was also wrecked then on the North-Western.
