THE PRICE OF COAL. Sydney, December 12. Newcastle colliery proprietors have decided to make no change in the selling price of best coal for the ensuing twelve months*. Possibly some reduction will be made in second-class coal.
TRANSPORT WORKERS' STRIKE. Adelaide, December 12.
A large meeting of transport workers yesterday decided to adhere to the decision to strike for eight hours a day. A wage of eight shillings' has been conceded. It is reported that nine small firms have granted the demands. It is expected that fully two thousand men will come out to-day.
RAILWIAYMEN'S DISSATISFACTION. Melbourne, December 12.
There is much dissatisfaction amongst railwaymen, A big meeting at Melbourne and gatherings at country centres adopted resolutions in favour of an day with eight shillings minimum wage for all adult workers.
A COALFIELD DISCOVERY. Melbourne, December 12. A six-foot seam of coal has been struck at Powlett, a mile and a half from the State mine. • The Government is negotiating to purchase the land.

Adelaide, December 12. The most brilliant meteor for years fell last night. It was followed by a. rumbling like thunder and a distinct vibration.
