DROWNED WHILE BATHING

Hy Telegraph.—l'refs A*<oomtioii. Christihurch, Monday,

Robert White, aged 13, was drowned in a waterhole in the Waimakariri River bed yesterday. He was bathing in a hole which was fairly deep, and was apparently seized with cramp. His parents reside at Belfast. Auckland, Monday. Leslie Moore, aged 10, who was staying with friends on the border of St. John's Lake, Tamaki, while bathing alone on Sunday afternoon, dived from a boat, which he was unable to reach again. He became exhausted and was drowned. He was observed by a man from the further shore, but no boat was handy, and before any help could be extended the lad had disappeared. Moore resided with his mother at Albany Road, Ponsonby.

A DANGEROUS FALL. Hokitika, Monday. The five-year-old son of Thomas O'Neill, of Rimu, fell over an old mining face at Rimu on Saturday afternoon, a distance of 30ft., on to the rocks below. He sustained injuries to the head, and both arms were broken, the right one badly. The sufferer was removed to the hospital, where his condition is satisfactory considering the seriousness of his injuries. •
